Jordan Magic
Jordan evokes a simpler time, a sense of place and a cherished way of life. A visit to Jordan brings a return to respected and hallowed tradition.
Jordan is a land of ancient heritage that until relatively modern times, has lived in the fold of great empires.
Jordan’s millennia of settlement have left it with varied archaeological Treasures that range from
- Neolithic Statues and
- four-thousand year old frescoes to
- the Greco-Roman splendor of Jerash,
- the mosaic riches of Byzantine Madaba and
- the rock-carved wonders of Nabataean Petra.
These historical sites, combined with a moderate climate and a central location, makes the kingdom ideal for tourism.
Amman is the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Joradan. Its name is derived from its ancient name " Rabbath Ammon " when it was the capital of the Ammonite Kingdom ( 1200 - 500 B.C ), but Ptolmey II Philadelphius, one of the generals of Alexander the Great, re-named it Philadelphia ( 258 - 246 B.C. ). Then, it became part of the Nabataean Kingdom for a long time.
During the Roman Empire Period ( 63 B.C. ), Amman became a prominent member of the Decapolis. The Byzantine built some churches in it which can be seen at Jabal al - Qal’a. They also built the Roman Theatre in downtown Amman. During the Islamic Period, the Umayyads built their palace and the remains of which are still standing on Jabal al - Qal’a near the Byzantine church.
There are many archaeological museums in Amman. One if them is situated on Jabal al-Qal’a. Its displayed objects tell the ancient history of the city. There is also another museum within the Roman Theater which illustrates the ancient public life.

DAY 2Petra full day visit & ON
A full day of sightseeing in the Red Rose City of Petra. First established during the 6th C. BC by Nabataean Arabs, Petra became a trading center for the caravans during what was the Ptolemaic era in Egypt.
Hailed as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, it is a magical experience to enter this hidden city through a long narrow Siq. The natural beauty is breathtaking, and then to find beautifully carved buildings made by human hands is a memorable experience.
Unlike the other tourists who have only a short 2-hour visit to the site, your tour will include the services of a local English-speaking guide for 4-5 hours. This will give you a chance to explore the area at a slower pace (and take breaks from all the hiking) and see more of the many buildings there. You will take a two hours 4-wheel drive jeep through the desert to see Lawrence’s spring. Carry on driving past majestic mountains, explore a gorge and see ancient rock drawings. Later we drive to Amman hotel for overnight. -
DAY 4Amman – Madaba – Mt. Nebo – Amman
Morning time we leave Amman to visit Madaba, where the St. George's Greek Orthodox Church has a famous mosaic on the floor. Made during the 6th century AD, the mosaic shows the pilgrimage from the surrounding areas to the Holy Land. You can even find Egypt on this map!
Next visit recalls the story of Moses and his journey to the Promised Land. At Mount Nebo there is a Memorial for Musa (Moses) and a 4th century church which Italian Franciscan priests excavated and restored in 1933. The panoramic view overlooks the Jordan River Valley, the Dead Sea, Jericho and Jerusalem. -
